The Sentara Don’t Sit on Colon Cancer 5K was a great success. Many people came out to run for their booty and learn a little about colon health. The LivON team had a booth and provided information on prevention and symptoms. We even had an “Eat this not that” display.
So, what should you eat?
Eat: Whole grains such as whole grain pasta and cereal
Don’t Eat: White pasta
Eat: Cooked eggs
Don’t Eat: Too many jelly beans and chocolate eggs (everything in moderation!)
Eat: Cereals lower in sugar such as Bran Flakes, Grape Nuts, and Shredded Wheat (add some bananas or blueberries for sweetness!)
Don’t Eat: Sugary cereals such as Honey Nut
Eat: Snack foods high in fiber such as veggies dipped in a little homemade salad dressing; or fruits such as apples and raspberries
Don’t Eat: Potato Chips
Remember—Anything out of a box means it is processed. Stick to making your own snacks and dinners. Start small if you need too! One meal at a time!
